A new chapter, stitched with colour

Some businesses begin with a plan. Others simply grow from a love of making.

Samsara Stitchery is a little of both.

Here in North Canterbury, surrounded by the colours and changing seasons on our farm, we have spent many years working with beautiful fibres, threads and textiles. What began as a love of colour and creating things by hand has evolved into a collection of products designed for people who share that same passion.

Today, Samsara Stitchery is our new chapter.

We create hand-dyed embroidery threads and silk ribbons, each coloured in our own studio in small batches. We love the unpredictability of dyeing — how colours mingle, blend and sometimes surprise you — and we believe that is part of what makes handmade materials so special.

Alongside our threads and ribbons, we design cartonnage kits, inspired by the wonderful French tradition of making beautiful boxes from board and fabric. There is something particularly satisfying about taking a collection of simple materials and turning them into something useful, beautiful and completely your own.

For us, making is about more than the finished piece. It is about choosing colours, feeling the texture of the materials, learning something new and enjoying the quiet satisfaction of creating with your hands.

The name Samsara comes from our farm, and it seemed the perfect name for this new beginning. It connects what we make with the place we call home and with the idea of creativity continuing to evolve and take new forms.

Samsara Stitchery is a small, independent New Zealand business, and everything we offer is chosen or created with a genuine love of textiles and traditional crafts.
